What to do if you are concerned or worried

 

If you believe that you, or someone that you know, is, or may be at risk of any form of abuse, OR you believe that you know someone who may pose a risk to others, then it is important to seek advice from a Safeguarding Adviser or Officer within the Church structure.

If the matter is or great urgency then you would be advised to take your concerns to the Local Authority Social Care Services OR to the Police

St Cuthbert’s Church, Norham, sits within the Diocese of Newcastle. Within the Diocese there is a Safeguarding team led by Ruth Rogan, the Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser who can be contacted by telephone – 07825 167016 or by e-mail – r.rogan@newcastle.anglican.org. Andrew Grant is the Assistant Safeguarding Adviser and his contact details are – tel – 07741 633 670; e-mail a.grant@newcastle.anglican.org. Within the parish, the local Safeguarding Adviser is Dr Janet Young – tel: 01289 382736 and e-mail: Janetyoung.lazda@gmail.com. All policy and advisory documents are kept within the church and DBS checks are undertaken on any person who may have contact or connection with any vulnerable adult of child as required.

Notes

  1. As prescribed by the Church Representation Rules:
    1. The churchwardens are elected annually for a maximum of six years.
    2. Two members of the PCC are elected each year for a period of three years.
    3. As agreed at the APCM on 1st  April 2014, a retired elected member becomes eligible for re-election after an interval of one year.
